Default Laptops on planes ...

I'm flying to MAN from SFO this weekend; are there currently restrictions on carrying laptops in the cabin? I seem to recall hearing about some security issues but can't find anything now ....

As far as I can recall the ban ended, but there is tighter security at check points/around aircraft etc for US bound flights apparently, what that involves I have no idea.

I believe the ban was only ever for international flights coming into the US from certain Muslim majority countries. It was limited to devices in the cabin which would mean checked items would be fine.

So, the only potential problem would be for international travelers coming back into the US. Oh, and much like most of this administrations half-baked policies, it's been cancelled anyway.

Flew SFO to LHR Thursday, no extra restrictions, just like flying domestic.

The EU was being considered to be one of those countries. However the eventually decided not to ban laptops from the EU.

The reciprocity issue has been around for several years now - so far the responses from the EU have mostly just been sabre rattling - while it is always possible that Trump will do something that pisses of the EU sufficiently to make them take action it seems more likely that this will just drag on with the US effectively being given an indefinite extension of the time needed to come into compliance.

Sitting here in UK using one of the laptops. Had to take the two laptops out of the backpack, separate bins, but the two tablets were allowed to remain in the bag. All good!

Giving one laptop and one tablet to my bro so won't have as much fuss on the way back! iPads are still cheaper in the US, even with sales tax/etc.
