Default Re: Jetlag

I've done this regularly for years, increasing to once every 3 weeks on average so far this year.

My approach:

Always take day flight. Up at 3am to do this, stay awake on flight, few beers when I get to other end and then ready to crash out in hotel around midnight. Optional melatonin. Result - usually (not always, just usually) ready to slip into UK schedule from next day.

Coming home - take late flight (6pm or later). Try to get an upgrade to business if possible using miles. Drink in lounge beforehand and a bit on plane. Watch one movie while eating dinner. Try to get at least 2-3 hours sleep on plane. I get picked up by a car service for the 1.5 hour trip home. Try to sleep in the car. Result - feel a bit crappy but slip back into US schedule next day. If unable to get upgraded then sleep on plane suffers which sets me back about a day.

My regular options are (times vary slightly seasonally):

BA238 08:15 BOS-LHR (does not run on selected dates in winter)
BA180 07:15 JFK-LHR
BA178 08:05 JFK-LHR
VS26 08:15 JFK-LHR

Full list here:

If BA gets short of planes then BA180 is often the first to get canceled.
