I don't know what the answer to that question is but the coroner issued a death certificate today.

Edit: the answer is:

Friday, the coroner issued a death certificate that stated she died Dec. 12, when doctors declared her brain dead. No cause of death is listed, pending an autopsy, the Oakland Tribune reported.

They have moved the body, nobody seems to know where to.

I did note that having been declared dead, and a death certificate issued, the hospital was only willing to release the body to the coroner, .... who then released the body to the deceased girl's parents.

As per court order...

Hard not to conclude that this whole situation is now about $$$. The family is still soliciting donations and have purportedly started legal actions against the hospital.

On another board I frequent there is a doctor who posts, and he seems to think that unless she is in an ICU with around the clock nursing, lab work, medications etc, that the heart will only last a couple weeks before giving out.

There is apparently a lot of delicate levels of hormones and medications to balance out in the body to keep the heart going, and unless they have a doctor and nursing care, doesn't sound like long term the heart will even last.

Plus it sounds like the body does some yucky stuff when brain dead and on a vent.

Apparently there is no blood circulating to her brain. We know what happens when no blood flows to an arm or leg (gangrene), and strangely enough the brain is no different.
