insurance for lost glasses?
Does anyone know if insurance for lost glasses (for your eyes!) is available?
I'm about to superglue them to their heads. I could have had a holiday for the amount I've had to pay out in the last six months for glasses.

Check your credit card perks, I think mine (MasterCard) covers for that that sort of thing, if not try home insurance.

Get some string thingys for the glasses or don't take them off?

I have a problem with glasses falling off (my head) and breaking or sustaining damage, so I bought a wire holder at a sports store that is claimed to hold onto the earpieces no matter what happens.
It's pretty thin, so not noticeable at all, & much cooler than most of the string holders (IMO).
I'm constantly pushing the glasses up on top of my head & then bending over to garden or cook or whatever, and I find the string ones give way after a while. I hope this wire one doesn't....

Joking aside, I doubt you would want to claim on a household policy for such relatively small things as it will lead to increased premiums and ultimately might lead to your policy being cancelled.

I haven't lost any........its the little darlings and the not-so-little OH. Sports classes at school, they put them down forget to pick them up, lose them on the school bus. God knows. There's a place where glasses and socks disappear to.
Less on the glasses? If only......weird eyesight they inherited from their father. Should've checked him out more thoroughly before agreeing to marry him :-)
Target btw is great for kids' glasses. They only charge ?$25 for each lens + anti-glare.
Our stupid eye insurance penalises us heavily for going out of network, so it is actually about the same or cheaper to get stupid designer frames from the optician.

Buy the cheapest possible brand you can. Place near me advertises 2 pairs for $50. I'm sure the lenses scratch just from looking through them, but it will keep your costs down.

I lost my glasses within 2 weeks of getting them. Wasn't used to having them, set them down somewhere and wasn't automatic reaction to think about them I suppose.
They are only needed for night driving, but I don't drive at night anymore, so all is well.

This doesn't help with losing them but for breaking frames - the best/cheapest way I have found is to buy 2 identical frames from Walmart's $9 section. It's usually the frames that break.
If you want to get the most out of your insurance money see if you can "bring your own frame" from Walmart then your all of your insurance $ can go toward the lenses.
All children's (under 18) lenses have to be polycarbonate to check around for prices..they vary.
