Re: If I could start over would I...
Also looking back, probably wasn't wise to leave America West Airlines when I did, they ended up merging with US Airways who then merged with American Airlines, and would have ended up being a decent career, many of my old co-workers make decent money now.
Oh well, can't change the past, at the time it seemed like a wise decision to leave.

I left a job with a final salary scheme , in some ways I wish I had stayed with hindsight. At the time is did not seem to be an issue.

Very much this, for me, too.
I'm only 32, but I'm learning that the horrible, big stuff isn't always that big or horrible when I look back. I made some pretty reckless decisions in my younger years, and had some opportunities taken from me due to ill health, but I'm now making up for lost time. I left school at 14 with no qualifications, and flailed my way through dead-end jobs thereafter, but this year I graduated from university with 1st class honours and two academic awards. I've had a horrible boyfriend or two (and some wonderful ones) but am now married to a kind, funny, intelligent, wonderful man. I was treated for anxiety and depression for fourteen years and truly believed I would never be 'better', and that was arguably my toughest challenge, but I've been happy and healthy for several years and I honestly wouldn't change or erase any of the nasty ones. They taught me a lot.
I try to find a silver lining or at least a lesson in everything, especially the challenges. I'm a more patient, empathetic and level-headed person because of them. Regrets are suffocating! It's nice to live without them, if you can, I reckon.

In my experience in engineering design, One has to know basic engineering principles, but a flare for design just as or more inportant.

I would do most of what I did, again. Except more so. In fact, I would love to do most of what I did, again.
What I do regret is the failure of my marriage.
And also I regret wasting so much time, largely wasted being pi##ed off about utter trivialities.

I'm pretty much satisfied the way things turned out, a few things I once regretted don't seem such a big deal anymore. Some thing that seemed like a bad decision at the time turned out for the better.
Who knows if we had taken a different path how things would have turn out.

I wouldn't change anything pre-1995 when Bahtatsprog No 3 arrived. Even the slightest change would have resulted in a different trajectory... Post-1995, yes maybe, but the Law of Unintended Consequences is not one to be taken lightly.

I would skip going to Canada, gone to Minnesota instead, meet the girl I married, make her fall in love with me all over again, two of us head for California and buy property when it was still going cheap

I'd tell my young scared self, this second time around, that my kids would be born just fine & show no ill effects whatsoever.
