Hi everyone - this is the first time I've started a new thread on this forum and it's really a question. Does anyone reading this have any idea how many British born people live in the USA? Is it something the Home Office or the US INS keep track of.

I looked at some stats for our local "town" (read suburb); it said 443 English people lived here out of 27,000. I thought it was high.... but maybe not.

Techinically before 1916 Irish would have been classed as Brits - perhaps that has something to do with it.

I don't know if this is the case still, but years ago, if I'm recalling correctly here, Azorians automatically qualified for GC's, something about a US base being built there or something, which would account for the population's demise. They're also all over Canada. Nellie Furtado is actually not really Portuguese - she's an Azorian.

The other interesting figure was 118,000 "not-legal-status" folks from Europe in the 80s but 330,000 odd in the 90s. Not much leaving or adjusting going on either.

Well, they weren't forcibly removed en masse and dumped on a nearby large island, so a tad different.

The majority live up in the N.E. mostly in Massataxes.
