Default Health insurance for small biz expansion- London to CA

Hello, I hold American citizenship, and my British husband has a USA green card, so we have decided to move to LA. I work for a small company in London, who want me to expand the business and set up our new office in LA. It will just be myself, and then hopefully grow to about 10 people in the next year or two.

In the meantime, does anyone who has done a similar move have advice on small business health insurance options in LA?

Many thanks!

So your husband has a green card but hasn't been residing in the US?

He won't have gotten a green card in the mail in the UK.

Do you mean he got his passport with a CR/IR-1 visa a month ago?

Yes, something like that! Whatever it is, he has a right to work in the US.

"Small business" health insurance doesn't mean a one man band, or even half a dozen people. As a tiny operation you will be buying insurance through an exchange, in your case presumably through the California health insurance portal. If the business expands you will have plenty of time to explore options for a group business policy.

As health premiums rise, small businesses seek alternatives – The Denver Post

May be of interest.

Agree if it is just you no doubt be going through the Exchange.

you might want to look at this

especially the bit about Qualified Small Employer Health Reimbursement Account (QSEHRA).
