Default Importing from the UK

Hi all,

I'm contemplating importing a vehicle from the UK. It's over 25 years old so is exempt from all the regulations, but I am struggling to find any information on fees that would be charged by the government at the port. I've got fees for shipping.

Has anyone tried this?

OttoTheBoar is an expert on importing vehicles. I'm sure he'll pop up and answer.

Using RORO into Baltimore you will need a customs broker, a guide for the costs is as follows;

Submitting entry to Homeland Security $175
Importer security filing (ISF) $45
ISF bond $100
EPA / DOT filing $50
Merchandise processing fee $29.89
Harbor maintenance fee $10.79
I pay 2.5% duty on a Land Rover Defender

Defending on the terminal used I assume you do not have a TWIC card an escort to go on the docks is needed allow no more than $100 for this.

Wonderful advice. Do you know if the EPA/DOT and HS fees are purely for submitting the form or are these fees charged for a vehicle that is under the 25 years old?

The fees are for a vehicle over 25 years old. Under 25 is a much more complicated and expensive process.
Before the vehicle arrives you will need to complete the HS2 form and state it is over 25 years old.
