So we're going to protest against a society that prejudicially thinks we're predisposed to criminal and violent behaviour by looting, shooting, throwing stones, and burning cars and shops. Yeah, that'll persuade society that we just want to be respected as law-abiding citizens!

You're conveniently forgetting the part that says 'after attacking a policeman who tried to arrest him for robbing a store'. I'm not saying he deserved to die, but let's be honest, he didn't exactly do himself any favours either.

And no, you're right, in this case I don't feel it. Anyway, if my son robbed a store, he'd have more to worry about coming from me than anything he'd get from the police. Not that I'd kill him, but you know what I mean.

I was thinking of that too...some blame the unrest on lack of opportunity...while businesses are ripped apart.

Mrs H. certainly feels that, whatever the situation, when it comes to authority you must be respectful...that the parents have to teach this to their children, rather than copping an attitude.

That's part of the problem really. Brown is the wrong poster child. If one googles there are plenty of unarmed black men who really weren't doing anything that are shot by police. It's more about bad policing in general than Brown himself. I understand why Ferguson is angry. I used to live in the next town on, Florrissant and the black/white racial tension is everywhere

Plenty of unarmed white men get shot and violently treated by the police as well what is your point? If it was a white kid shot by black cop the white community would not be rioting right now? I seriously doubt it mate.

That could have happened in England there have been many times when armed police have been called out to kids with toy guns no one has ever been shot but the call out happened. One day it will happen probably. It is very sad but the officer had a split second decision to make. And yeah plenty of 12 year old kids in america probably can get hold of guns.

Perhaps. I've seen a lot of pictures this morning of nice young African Americans holding trash bags clearing up the mess. Probably not getting much coverage.
