It's getting a bit boring now. MORE rain this afternoon in Austin. We spent the morning clearing up the debris of branches, leaves and mud from the back garden and now we are inside watching the rain and listening to the thunder. Drinking a glass of v nice rose wine but would've been nice to be sitting outside.....

on a brighter note, I bought a standing fan yesterday to blow on us when we are outside - the aim was that the breeze from the fan blows away the mossies etc and stops them getting to us. It worked!!! And it kept us cool $40 well spent.

I was looking at fans this afternoon for the same purpose but didn't buy one. Turns out I didn't need one since we have had thunder and lightning and more rain for the last couple of hours, quelle surprise!

You know, there is a certain amusement watching the little and not so little buggers get blown away!!

You alright down there in Houston?
My neighbourhood here in Austin didn't suffer much in the flooding but the winds on Thursday night have wreaked havoc on the trees and many houses have been damaged by fallen trees/branches.

I've volunteered to go to San Marcos tomorrow and help with the clear up. Thinking I might take some of the spare bedding we've got.

We're fine, a bit further South of Houston so we have missed the worst of it so far. Flooding again in Houston today though, glad we were in and out earlier on today.

Here is the current situation. Rain. Rain. Thunder. Lightening. Hail. Rain. Sun (hurray). Rain. Thunder.

Minute maid park flooded. We are soggy but fine. Brazos river is at bursting point and they started evacuating yesterday.

I managed to returf a bit of lawn this weekend - it shouldn't need much watering.

I got a load of gardening done yesterday and today too - great weather for it! Like you say, not a lot of watering needed for new plantings - the ground is absolutely saturated. No rain in the forecast through Sunday, which is good.

Thanks for the reminder - must go shopping tomorrow...portable generator, an acre plywood, 3 years worth of freeze dried food, a couple of extra bushmasters with several thousand rounds of ammo...think that should do it....am I missing anything?
