Wife said the same for Katy - Energy Corridor.

And yes, Cypress-Fairbanks ISD is closed. I've also been told every school district in Houston is closed, but not sure how true that is. My wife has had to take vacation.
KISD is closed, but someone (Chocolate Babz?) said Pearland was open.

I believe Mr Weeze had an interesting commute, but I'm sure he'll update when he can. I think if the damage had been reported by 5.30am he wouldn't have left home.

It was fine all around Katy, and onto I10, though it was closed going West around Westgreen. Saw the signs saying it was closed at 610 and I turned off at Voss to get to the Galleria area. I had to do a u turn on Voss and run along Memorial to get to Chimney Rock. Some lights were out, a tree was half across Memorial and there were dozens of stranded cars. Power was out to some of the work parking barriers. In work just before 6.

Some people at work had people coming the wrong way down I10 HOV at them this AM.

Best commute I've had since I have been here today. Got on I10 at Fry and sailed to Gessner.

Very impressed by how the roads and my local area handled that much water. Our house stood up to the task as well, no flooding to mention.

I am well aware though that we are lucky, a few colleagues in the Galleria and Memorial areas got hit harder than us and they are flooded out.

You know the roads out west are specifically designed to flood and move the water away, yeah? When I first heard that I went "Oh!" and it made so much more sense.

That would explain why there are so many holes in Dairy Ashford. It's supposed to work like a sieve!

You need somewhere no history of damaging earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, or tornadoes of any consequence.

I should have added "no winter weather to speak of", then it would sound quite different.

up here in north Dallas everything is soaked and the dams are running over the top of the slip - but mainly no major damage thankfully!
Our lawn may die though as its been sitting in puddles of water for weeks now.

So, I'm glad our house in NW Austin is on the top of a very steep hill! First ever "extreme tornado " alert for me - two of my kids were elsewhere bunkering down, one of them very close to where a cloud funnel was sighted.

Water levels are going down leaving a lot of people with devastated houses. Hubby didn't even try to commute at usual time this morning, so many roads closed that peak traffic was even worse than usual.

Lake Travis is filling up nicely, maybe drought restrictions will finally be lifted?

I'm trying to volunteer to help with clean-up but not having much luck since I'm not "affiliated" to a church. Ah well, get out the credit card instead.

When I read the title, I thought "Texas BBQ". Just sorry for all you people having to deal with all the flooding. Stay safe, and send some of the water to So CA, please.

Texas has too much water, California has too little water, seems these days its all about extremes.

The pictures on CNN look bad, flooding is horrible.

Is it just Houston region or other regions in the state as well? All the mention is of Houston, but I thought I recalled hearing San Antonio in the mix at some point as well.
