Also, your rating of Wendy's is surely a joke.

Re: Fast food in the US
People are rating restaurants that aren't necessarily competing in the same market. In the drive up/walk up market I would agree with people rating Wendy's far above others, such as McD's, and BK.
BUT there are restaurants that I believe are grouped under "fast casual" which are much closer to burgers served in a sit-down restaurant - and I would rate Red Robin (which is a sit down restaurant) and the American Burger Company (order at the counter, table delivery) as serving good burgers (in a different league from McD's and BK), with both getting bonus points for selling beer.

"Everyone else"? "No one close"? Have you actually ever tried the other options listed here? In-n-Out is a bit better than McDonalds but nowhere near something like Shake Shack. It's certainly not the second coming people pretend it is.
Also, your rating of Wendy's is surely a joke.

I've tried the majority listed here, as I eat far more fast food than I should, especially if I'm out on the road at work. Haven't tried Smash Burger. One has just opened nearby, so it'll be on my done list soon.

Maybe, although I don't seem to be alone in rating either Wendy's or In-N-Out's burgers highly.

Smash Burger is very average. Their fried pickles are okay.
Wendy's is decent. Shake shack was good but over-rated. Same with Five Guys.
In-N-Out Burger is still the best I've tried by some margin.

Had a 'Mighty Fine Burger' in Austin today - highly recommended!
