do you have questions for a mortgage advisor?
As part of my new role as a relocation consultant, I have a meeting tomorrow with a Wells Fargo mortgage advisor who specialises in mortgages for non-LPR.
He's going to go over the documentation required and the process they go through to approve a mortgage.
Any questions you want me to ask?

Maybe a few top tips for an application and what the bank people look for would make for a nice wiki page

No thanks.
American lenders - especially Wells Fargo - have proven themselves to be utter liabilities with our money recently.
Tell the chap from Wells Fargo his bank is a complete disgrace.

Does he have a fiduciary relationship with his clients? Does he make commission on each sale?
Why should we choose to work with WF? What benefits would you and your clients get from working with WF?
What's the current turn around on a mortgage?
When are they going to move into the 21st century and move away from a horse and carriage?

seriously? He works for Wells Fargo!

Those of us that have had relocation assistance will know that my job is to ensure that my clients are informed about the processes of getting things like driving licenses and social security cards and bank accounts. I have to ensure that we turn up to the various offices with the right documentation for their situation to get the DL or SSN etc. Ths guy is sharing that process with me so that I can advise my clients on the process and the paperwork. He hopefully will give me tips as Tom169 asked for.
As a relocation consultant that's where my job ends. I will endeavour to find out the process etc from 2 other banks but so far, I've met with no luck. The benefits for my clients are an introduction to a guy who knows what needs to be done to get a mortgage on whatever visa you've got. Knows what paperwork you can get hold of and what you can't, downpayments etc. I will get as much information as I can and share it here.

If I had been offered such a service when I relocated with my job, I would have turned it down flat. It would have been insulting to my intelligence.

There must be a lot of ignorant dimwits you have to interact with, as the process is overwhelmingly easy.

I'm amazed that this line of work even exists. There are clearly a lot of ignorant idiot people moving to this country if they're unable to find this stuff on their own two feet.

I've had relocation assistance each time. It has been a godsend. Someone who knows exactly what to do so I don't have to search on the internet all by myself , getting incorrect information half the time from dimwits like you who think they know it all.
And what if you had to do it all in a foreign language?
I'm glad you find everything so easy. Tell me again why you have problems everywhere?

Re: do you have questions for a mortgage advisor?
We have been given the opportunity to have information, and to provide input, from someone directly involved and the main responses are negativity.
If you are not interested, fine. Maybe others will find the outcome helpful. Just saying.

I thought maybe they had changed after the big scandal. If they are only going to sell their high commission products you need to inform your clients there are fiduciary options out there. It would be immoral to do otherwise.

I think the salient point you're attempting to make is completely lost on her.
