Also living in Framingham MA, we get them very regularly from the State Park over the road. They come across our land even in the middle of the afternoon now, so they're not too shy. Shout at them!

If the neighbors have an annoying pet or small child, this could be an opportunity for you.

They'd shoot them in Texas.....

I was talking to one of the guys from a couple of streets away about squirrels. There are loads of them here..he said he used to just ignore them until his car wouldn't start one morning, he opened up the bonnet and there was a squirrel chewing through a cable. So he starts treating them like vermin and shoots them. He reckons he's killed about 300 (!!) since February. However, he's got peaches on the peach tree for the first time ever....

Squirrel Pot Pie | Missouri Department of Conservation

Squirrel Pot Pie

Squirrel pot pie can be made by boiling or pressure cooking squirrels seasoned the same as in dumplings. Remove from the bone. make pie crust from your favorite recipe and line a small to medium square cake pan. Mix squirrel meat with one can of corn, one can of peas, one medium diced onion and one cup of diced cooked potatoes and pour this filling on top of your crust. Cover top of filling with another crust. Punch holes in the top crust and cook until crust is golden brown. Then serve and enjoy.

Or not.

You can shoot squirrels when it is the season. Coyotes you can shoot if they have attacked your farm animals or pets.

there's a squirrel season?? off to google it.

When we first got here, my dog used to try and chase them up the trees. Better, she would remember the next day where she had tried to catch one the day before and try again. Had us in hysterics. Now she doesn't even notice them.

edited to add that there is no bag limit and no closed season in our county......just have to get a gun then and warn all the neighbours to take cover...

If you go to one of the local fur / pelt sales you are going to meet some quite unusual people. They are not for the faint hearted or squeamish as they not only sell pelts but whole dead animals as the taxidermists buy both at these events.

No season here for gray squirrels and fox squirrels nor a hunting license required, but I wouldn't suggest firing a gun unless you live in the middle of nowhere.

You can only kill/capture the Columbian ground squirrel if protecting property however unless an open season has been declared.

We have a wildlife coexistence policies with the coyotes. You may not blow their bloody heads off apparently. Here, I've copied and pasted the SMART policy

Be S.M.A.R.T.!

Stop! Do not run! If you run, the coyote may chase.
Make yourself look big! Put your hands over your head or pull your jacket up over your head. Look as big as you can to the coyote knows that you too tough to mess with.
Annouce forcefully, "Leave Me Alone"! Repeat if necessary. This lets the coyote know you are a person, and it lets people around you know that you may be in trouble.
Retreat! Back away slowly, but don't turn your back on the coyote.
Teach your friends and neighbors about coyotes and report coyote encounters to an adult if you're a child.
