City bans fireworks
I wonder how successful this will be, and if other cities adopt this as a trend.

Why any group of self respecting people would want to celebrated having their butts pulled out of the fire and being rescued by the French beats me.

No 4th July fireworks here to dry.
Colorado bans most fireworks, head over the state line and there are shops selling them.

Re: City bans fireworks
Except for professional fireworks, they were basically always banned in my region of California for as long as I can't remember.
No idea if it's statewide however.

Public mainly for us due to dry weather.
Last thing we need is another huge wild fire.

Re: City bans fireworks
Fireworks are banned inside the city here in San Antonio....aside from professional displays. It's been this way as long as I can remember, you can't buy/sell them inside the city limits either.
there are still plenty of places you can go to set them off, or watch one of the professional displays so it's never really bothered me. We can see the six flags fireworks from our house ( every night through the summer season) so my kids are pretty much over watching them now.

What's weird about that? Reminds me when stopped for gas in Indonesia. They were smoking and filling up the car with an open oil drum of petrol and a jug.

Pakistan fuel tanker truck explosion kills at least 153 - CNN.com
Police speculate on cause
It's not known what cause the wreck to ignite, but some people gathering at the scene began smoking cigarettes and using their cell phones to inform friends and relatives of the crash.

I know the police are confused, my money would be on the Ciggy's.
Obviously a Mobile is much more interesting to blame.
