This time it landed on the floor and I immediately tossed a throw on top of it and we maneuvered the pile out onto the deck. Next morning, it was still lying there looking pathetic, so Animal Control took it away to be tested. Happily no rabies detected. Not my idea of fun, so we have turned getting in and out of the doors at night into an Olympic sport now.

Ok, I haven't seen it come out since the past 2 days since I posted on here!

I bought some insecticide from Walmart and sprayed into the crack. Not sure if it died or still alive. It has not come out since..

Called a few bee removal companies, they all suggest a minimum of $$'s some $$$'s to come out (don't even know if it's alive or not).

I am seriously considering bug bomb!! Any other ideas?

(As I asked before) Why not a bug bomb?

Do you have access to the attic space. If so, you should wait until nightfall then take a torch and go and explore up there. If you find a small to medium sized nest I would either attack it with wasp/hornet spray (which as a 20-25ft jet spray) or use two or three bug bombs (because attics are well ventilated) close to the nest (one directly underneath if possible). A large nest might take multiple bombings, unless you are willing to fork over big bucks for a pest service to come and remove it for you.

I wish our visitor had been that small! Though there again, we'd never have found him ... A few years ago we had to have a big time extermination as the attic was home to colonies of both bats and flying squirrels.

Bug bombs are great but horrific. You can't help but be surprised at the amount of dead creatures you find that you didn't know you had.

Agreed. ..... But it makes me want to set off a bug bomb at least once a week during the summer.

Never used one... Do you get any residual crap on stuff (other than a layer of dead critters)?

Some of them leave a circle of oily looking spatter around the can, which is why they recommend placing the can on a sheet of newspaper. ..... Which I would do, if I hadn't stopped buying newspapers about 10 years ago. If you place the can on vinyl flooring the spatter wipes up easily. I think some now claim to be spatter free.

That is the dumbest most stupid advice evere. NEVER ever spray awasp/bee nest. They will attack you with a vengence. However the bug bomb is a great idea and always works.

WTF are you talking about? Cans of wasp spray are sold specifically for the purpose in the US (they produce a 20-25ft jet of spray) and I have used them successfully a number of times, including a few weeks ago. A have a can of spray I keep "just in case"

I have never been stung while spraying a nest, or even threatened. I used spray once on a nest about the size of both my hands cupped together. Obviously you have to spray after dark, when the wasps are all back in the nest.

In short: indoors = bug bomb, outdoors = wasp spray (after dark)
