Default Anyone got a toaster oven they love?

Our main cooker is a 48 inch Thermador job but a bit overkill if I want to heat a slice of pizza or something.

Our most recent table top toaster over was quite nice and constantly used.

However the glass door shattered last week as I was pulling it open.

Perusing the local Wally World, in disguise, they all seem much the same, with their scrawny little heating elements top and bottom providing revolutionary infrared technology.

Wow what a nice oven you have.

Toaster ovens are not allowed at my works break room as they are considered a fire hazard. You might want to search on toaster oven fire hazards before you make your decision. They are also a bugger to keep clean.

It's for the kitchen Bob, and the Kenmore we had worked fine for many years. And never left unattended.

Yes, that cooker, I gave the wife a choice, gold ring or the Thermador.

Do you never heat up something quick? Whereas the main over is a larger operation?

I agree they are very practical. But since they're so straightforward and relatively cheap, I suggest it doesn't matter much which one you pick.

I LOVE my toaster oven.

I have a double oven and very rarely use it. Breville - first one lasted 3 years - this one on it's 3rd year too (I use it a LOT).

Get it at BBB with your 20% off coupon - was about $200.00

That's why we have a microwave.

We have a fancy GE microwave, a "Profile" one, and it has conventional oven heating too. .... To the best of my knowledge it has only ever been used as a microwave oven.

We have a Hamilton Beach, its only about a year old, but works and was only about 65 bucks. (probably cheaper in the US).

I use it as the main oven for just about all cooking. We only cook small things, and using a huge oven to cook for example 2 chicken breasts is silly. Cooks everything just as good as the big oven, but doesn't heat the apartment to an uncomfortable temp.

Easier to clean then the big oven too, so saves times on cleaning. Have only used the big oven 2-3 times in the last year.

This is the one we have.

Stainless Steel 6 Slice Toaster Oven - 31511 - available from Hamilton Beach

UPDATE: Mrs P reports having used it as a convection oven, ....... twice. Sorry, [I am being edited real time] "at least twice." ..... In three years.

Maybe, probably. It's hard to say as I have only ever used it as a microwave.

If I want to heat something up, it is generally microwaved, or in a saucepan.

If the main oven goes on its because I'm cooking a casserole, roasting a joint, or generally doing something for the family. Nothing I cook in the main oven would fit in our toaster oven.

If I want to have something burnt to a crisp on one side and uncooked on the other, I guess I'd ask if I could use the wife's toaster oven Maybe she "chose" a bad one, but I've never really seen the need for it - it seems to something that would be required equipment in a bedsit or student dorm.

I have done, but you are right, it wouldn't be my preferred method of reheating an already baked pie or battered morsel. And it probably isn't possible if said pie or battered morsel is not already cooked. That said it has never occurred to me that my kitchen is missing a toaster oven.
