Sounds a bit weird to me but you can be the judge. Americans who have a West Country British accent.

I think if you go to any remote country area in the eastern part of the US or Canada you'll hear accents that don't sound anything like a recognisable "American" accent. Certainly in deepest New York or New England, country folk don't sound remotely like a person from Boston, or Syracuse or Brooklyn. Especially when they are talking to each other.

In the days of colonial America the owners of the big cotton plantations in the southern colonies lived a lifestyle very much like the land owning squires in England except for owning slaves of course. They taught the slaves to speak English in the same manner as the uneducated simple farm workers in rural parts of England did at that time.

Traces of this remain even to this day. Expressions such as "you be" or "I be" are still used by some black Americans lacking a good education

There are still some people in the home counties that speak that way. Many of the people that speak that way have been forced out of the area by the higher paid immigrants.

Just go to a young farmers meeting.

I randomly came across this video on YouTube the other day. From what I remember she sounded more Australian.

Definitely an interesting accent though, many different flavors that I could pick out, with West Country(ish) being one. Hoigh Toiiiiide
