Default 4 day school week

I see that some parts of the US want to move to a 4 day school week. Schools in rural areas shifting toward a 4-day week | Fox News

Does anyone know of any reason why this would be a good thing?

For some kids - I was one of them - a zero-day school week would have been ideal !

If it was in a cold snowy region, save on heating and snow plowing?

Only have to pay teachers for 4 days a week/ teachers would have more time for a part-time job.

Travel time, perhaps.

Out where MIL teaches, some of those kids are on the school bus for 45 mins to an hour during the winter. Not all that much quicker in the summer...but would mean more chance to go hunting, rather than doing it before school and being tired. A lot of those folks rely on hunting season for survival.

Would save on school running costs, but not so much on the heating as the schools would need the heat even if closed because of the pipes etc.
