Thailand Dental/Bangkok or Phuket?
Hi all... I am currently residing in Brisbane from the uk and as most have posted are less than impressed with the cost of AU dentist prices..
That said although i would love a trip back to see family in Yorkshire(uk) and get my teeth sorted cost of travel home and the time factor its not really an option
So looking at Jetstar flights i recon i can get a return flight for $1000 approx in january 2014..
I have narrowed down a few Thailand Dental places as recomended by a few people on trip advisor and also because some of these have costings for work on crowns implants etc..
I want my 2 front crowns replacing and laser whitening... My ozt dentist said i can replace the 2 front crowns at $900 EACH which is pretty good by ozy prices but he also said BUT if the either original tooth breaks you may need implants at a cost of nearly $10000 PER TOOTH..
Thats kind of like me saying to a customer i will change the oil in your car but i might find the engine is shot so hand over the cash for a new one!!
I would love to know people that have Actually been to these places in thailand for dental work done..Thailand only peeps..thanks..
1..ASAVANANT in Bangkok-- apparently higly recomended but not prices online to view.
2.. SilomDental.com
3... Sunildental-Bangkok. Costings online.
4... Bangkok dental smile clinic(DR Kim) Bangkok V good.Prices online
5... Sea smile dental clinic --- Phuket. V.good prices online
Bangkok dental smile and sea smile dental in Phuket are the same company and have same prices, its just wether to spend extra cash to head to Phuket to chill over Bangkok and wether they can do in house at Phuket..
Anyone used any of the above??

I know it's not exactly answering your question, but most of my Aussie friends get their dental work done here in Penang. KK Ong recommended. They have a website. Google will find I imagine. Met up with one friend yesterday from Melbourne and her son had come over and got a lot of work done and very pleased. Way way cheaper and very good dentists.
Have to say that I gave up on dentists in Phuket when I lived there...bloody scarey
Cannot speak for Bangkok. Maybe others can recommend. Hope so.

I would go BKK over Phuket . Probably better quality . Don't know about prices. In your position it probably wouldn't be an option but government hospitals do dental work too at a fraction of the price and just as good as clinic.
Have a look on airBnB for places to stay . A lot better value than a hotel ( in BKK especially ).

Thank you for the posts thus far!
I think I will stick with Bangkok for dental.
Tell me Nonthaburi, when you say Government dental hospitals do you mean BIDC for example?
Ive read mixed forum reports of the BIDC!
Air BNB seems great value on apartments.
Would really like actual peoples experiences of dentists for crowns/implants in Bangkok and have inhouse facility to make the crowns to make it faster!
I want to get there hopefully in a week or 2 just unsure which are quality ones? Hopefull to hear peoples experiences PLEASE?

Hoping to hear from at least some people that have had dental work done in Thailand.
Although plans to go this month maybe a bad move because of the Thai protests in Bangkok itself. spoke to a lady from Dentaldepartures who lives in Phuket last night and its apparently a 4 hour drive from airport to the city ATM.

Re: Thailand Dental/Bangkok or Phuket?
Hi all...
Had a few replies from
Asavanant, sunil dental and smile Bangkok.
I have narrowed my choice down to Sunil dental and smile Bangkok.
This is ''Smile Bangkok'' reply below.
''THB 17,000 or approx. AUD 567 per tooth for the 3D CAD-CAD zirconia reinforced full ceramic crown which the strength is much higher than the conventional one.
Regarding the metal FREE crown, we would like to inform you that we are one of the very few dental clinics in Thailand with its own in house“ISO 9001 certified” dental laboratory, and we also provide the latest Z CAD system zirconia porcelain, metal FREE from Switzerland. This is the 5 axis milling machine with the 3D laser scanner.''
They are offering free pick up to and from hotel for first appointment..
Their technology seem to be the latest equipment and offer good products for future whitening etc.
Sunil Dental are pretty much the same price for work to be done but are offering 2 nights free accommodation at Dr.Sunil Luxury Service Apartments with free two way airport transfers.
Additional night will cost 1600Bht per night.
Although Sunil sounds like offering a few perks I would appreciate peoples
advice on DR Sunil and Smile Bangkok dental experiences??

There's probably not a lot of difference in it. Once you get to a certain level they're going to be around the same . The Thai economy isn't so great right now so enjoy the perks !!

Re: Thailand Dental/Bangkok or Phuket?
I went to a place called dentist@beach
its not one of the big players but has a good rep
and many people fly from oz to go there
my story in a nutshell
oz price $2600
thai cost $700
its in pattaya which is not the nicest part of Thailand but the work was good
and I would return

You can consider Dr Sunil Dental Clinic. My experience with them was pretty amazing. Besides the cost effective treatment, they provide you free pick and drop to airport. Plus you do not have to worry about living expenses as they provide some free accommodation also and their apartment is no less than a five star hotel . So you can go ahead with it.

In addition to the ones you listed, there are several dental clinics in Thailand that are specialised in handling international patients (i.e. speak good English, transfer medical records to your home doctor, assist with hotel and flight booking).
You can get a cost estimate for your treatment and communicate with doctors prior to your treatment for free on third party sites like MEDIGO. Here, for instance, are all the clinics that perform crowns in Thailand. medigo.com/en/dentistry/crowns/thailand?sort Best of luck with your treatment!
