Default What is teaching like in Australia?

Hi. I'm a secondary maths teacher in the UK and am looking into moving to Australia (as I grew up there). I'm hoping that teaching in Australia will be more about teaching and pupils, rather than all about data/reports/meetings/Ofsted/etc. as it has become in the UK. I'm also hoping the hours might be slightly less crazy so that I could spend time with my other half in the evenings. Obviously I'm not expecting it to be a walk in the park with no planning/marking/etc.(!!) but I'm hoping for a better work-life balance. Are there any teachers who have moved over there and could tell me a bit about what the job is like and how many hours you do in an average day/week? Thank you.

A friend who teaches says she takes much less work home here compared to UK, and manages to do most prep during school hours. She teaches secondary special ed. and uses her NIT time to do the marking and prep needed

(NIT = Non Instruction Time)
