No Snakes. I have not seen a snake and have been here over a year.

This was living in a very small town over 9hours from Perth, and not seen any in this town either.

I hate creepy crawlies, so would freak.
However we have all been to Greenough wildlife Park and recently held snakes. I said you wouldnt catch me doing it, but I did and it wasnt bad.

Wouldnt worry about snakes. Very unlikely to see them unless your going someplace bushwalking.

Over here everyone buys cans of spray from supermarket to spray around door frames and windows. This is to deter cockroaches and spiders.
Id advice doing this if your a big coward like me.
Havent got a problem with spiders or cockroaches so dont worry. Its just something people do here.

Thoughts for January, watch out its bloomin hot!
Make sure you have hat, sunglasses, and plenty of sunscreen at all times.

Try and book flights early if your coming in Jan, as prices go up at this time of year.

As for snakes, I too have a phobia but have been able to put aside for a new adventure. Zoo Lab visits to school have helped me loads.

We ( including Hello WA ) are waiting for our placements. We will be arriving in Perth Jan 09 and are excited. We have been asked to think about where we would like to go which is nice but realistically we could be placed anywhere. We should find out by end of October so will know where we are going.

Gems may see this thread and add to your query. She has been a great help and reasurrance to both of us.

All I would say is go for it. I know that I would spend the rest of my life (melodramatic statement I know) wondering what if.

Best of luck

Nicki
Dont panic too much about snakes, i was brought up on a farm in WA and have NEVER seen a snake... seriously!
