Default Masters Primary school teaching advice needed

Hi I have recently moved to NSW from the UK and have been a secondary school teacher for the last 6 years and a head of year.i have just had my accreditation to teach approved however I can only teach causally in public schools as my undergraduate and postgraduate degree subject specialisms do not match. I have been advised that I can teach in Catholic or private schools.

After talking to some it looks like i h e two options to either do further units of study at undergraduate level to match my PGCE or to retain as a primary teacher.

Had anyone had an experience of training to be primary school teacher in NSW? I have been told that the university of New England would be best and would take 6-12 months.

Any help would be greatly welcomed
