Boris Johnson and Nigel Farage not helping the Brexit cause by referring to Obama as Kenyan.

It's often said that Americans don't have much idea what goes on outside their own borders and never was it more clearly demonstrated than today.
First Obama highlighted the disastrous EU immigrant and security policies as being plus factors and when they both got on and on about the so called special relationship, I went outside to vomit.
Anyway, I hope they found themselves a nice room together for the night.

'Tis an interesting place, though, is the old US of A. Still being very young on the world stage in terms of country age, it's sometimes interesting to watch it develop. Can be mind bogglingly insular and yet at the same time thoroughly worldly. Mostly harmless though, IMO, even though the potential for bat-shit mentality bubbles just under the surface.

The special relationship only exists when it benefits the US. Did Obama threaten the UK when he mentioned US trade with Europe vs a small country i.e. U.K.?

Precisely, a very clear threat.

Of course he didn't visit the UK to tell people how to vote,

...but he told them anyway.

Let's see.. The EU is dictating to Britain, now the US is too. China is dumping steel on our overpriced uncompetitive steel industry, and the UK blocked all EU attempts to impose tariffs on it, yet it's the EU's fault. UK Tax havens are providing shelter to dubious tax avoiders, avoiding some of the world's highest taxes, which we do everything to avoid, while claiming as many of the world's most generous benefits as we can, yet scream bloody murder if anyone else does. We even have reality TV programmes about it.

Somehow it strikes me that perhaps the most patriotic thing for Britain to do would be to brexit, and then alienate all of our (wholly unpatriotic, dictatorial) friends and key trading partners on the planet. Only then can we get on with finishing the job of completely screwing Britain, allowing us to finally be able to raise the Union Jack with honour, with the added bonus of having an endless supply of crap to moan about and blame everyone else for.

And maybe just a coincidence, but it seems there's a US Republican frontrunner presidential candidate that's offering much the same idea. But he's an arsehole. (?)

Cnuts who put items in a supermarket back on the wrong shelf , especially if they look just like what should be on the shelf, which is why we are having Apricot jam instead of Marmelade for breakfast, the jars are so similar we didn't notice until I opened it this morning.

Same old, same old, Ami..........though you forgot to mention the Empire by the way.

Plain fact is we get on remarkably well with just about every other civilised country on the planet, ..............until of course we are dictated to or threatened,......big mistake Mr Obama, but there again he made quite a few....

You can blame me for that, Mike,I do it all the time when I change my mind about an item or see something better.
Rather than waste precious time trying to figure out where the original item came from, I admit to simply dumping it on the nearest shelf.

What do supermarkets employ staff for anyway ?

Well, Obama didn't say anything different than he did (and demonstrated) long before any talk of a brexit.

The US strategy of negotiating trade deals with large trading blocs has been policy since, well, as long as I can remember. And it's true that it's inefficient and often contentious to negotiate separate trade deals with every individual country. Besides, the eurozone alone represents a trading bloc as big as the US (nearly 6x that of Britain), so that's consistent with their long-held strategy. Hardly any veiled "threat". It's simply the same policy they've always had.

And had Obama claimed they'd be anxious to immediately negotiate a new deal with a post-brexit Britain, he'd equally be accused of lying, because it would in fact be a lie, or at least 180 degrees contrary to US trade policy.

But of course, it makes great fodder for British sensationalism, as most of the brexit arguments have proven to be.

I refer you to post 66 and suggest we take it back to the EU thread rather than hog this one with our little tete a tete.
