Was listening to 640am on way to work this morning and Canadian callers were agreeing with trumps idea !! And I mean almost all the callers lol

So is this what most people at street level are thinking? But when asked just deny any affiliation with it.

Whether it's Farage, Le Pen or Wilders, Trump is tapping into a similar vein of xenophobia that unfortunately seems to come very naturally to human societies when they're stressed.

If Trump is the Republican candidate, I think he's pretty sure to win. He'd be the only Republican candidate the Republican voters I know don't have to hold their nose to vote for since Reagan, and would see massive turnout if he's up against Clinton. Most of them didn't even bother to hold their nose in the last election, and just stayed home.

But the Republican elite will do everything they can to keep Trump out and nominate Bush instead. At which point Trump would have to go third party, where he'd still have a good chance to win against Clinton and Bush.

What he'd actually do if he got to the White House is another question, of course. Probably turn it into a hotel, and start another reality TV show.

The Constitution does not say that the President has to be sane. Why shouldn't they elect a fruitcake ?

What he said he was going to do was build up America's military capability until they become the undisputed masters of the planet and thus never have the need to go to war. This plan has the selling point of eliminating unemployment, but I can't help thinking there must be a catch somewhere.

I think the only chance the Democrats would have is if they dump Clinton, and find a candidate their supporters would actually be eager to get out of bed to vote for. I can't see that happening, which would leave them in the same position as the Republicans if they nominate Bush.

The idea that, if you scoured America for the best Presidential candidates, you'd end up with... Clinton and Bush... is truly insane.

I dunno, I think Hilary is going to win this easily.

Nobody want's bush and deep down even septics know that trump is unelectable.

Very true but they are also tapping into an anti establishment tide caused by the political elite ignoring the 90% and their wishes and needs.

Would Trump get Sarah Palin to be his VP? Why go with half a load?

That assumes that 640am represents the 'street level' attitude..whatever 'street level' means.

Is 640am a phone in station featuring such cerebral hosts as Jim Rome?

The same thing happened in 1990 when the NDP got in provincially. I don't know a single person who admitted voting for them.

If Trump got the nomination, who would vote for the Republicans ? Ain't gonna be Latinos, African-Americans, Muslims or anyone with an iota of education. Republicans are un-electable. It's basically a time locked version of 'Mad Men' versus 'Modern Family' demographics of the US today.
