The United Nations with the support of all it's member countries should have built refugee camps in Syria and Iraq. The camps should have had hospitals, schools, places of worship and decent accommodation. As usual though none of this was done . The UN was set up to deal with situations such as this but throughout it's history has failed dismally to achieve much other than blow a lot of hot air.

How do you build camps in countries at war.
Which country would have been responsible for defending them.
All that would have happened would have been a repeat of Bosnia and Ruanda where the U.N. forces where either to weak or not motivated enough to defend the camp inhabitants from those determined to kill them.Camps were set up in Jordan and Lebanon.

There are millions of refugees living in camps in neighbouring countries and a load more displaced persons within the conflict countries.

But you didn't answer the question ........

This is the reality whether you like it or not.
It wouldn't be that difficult to retrain workers and retool factories to produce world-class renewable energy products such as wind turbines, solar panels and associated equipment. The UK could become a leader in such technology very easily.

Yes, because her parents moved there when she was a small child. Did she have a choice in the matter? I doubt it. But then I'd suggest being educated in a Communist-controlled country would mean she's seen the hardships and wants to help people rise above it.

How do people live in such isolation from reality? Is it simply that they only read the English tabloids? I'd expect at least some exposure to the real world, but perhaps that's just not what they want to hear, so they simply ignore it.

Long after Merkel is dead and gone Europe will be living with the consequences of her policies if they were allowed to continue.

What, exactly, leads you to believe all this? It's certainly not rooted in fact, nor is it the common perception. Is it the unique opinion of the express again?

The reality is that selling arms is where the big money is. I'm not supporting the arms industry but the leading industrial nations will never, ever get out of the armaments business. I admire your ideas for a better world but I don't hold much hope for it.

Fine. So, back to the question; what leads you to believe all this stuff, if not the tabloids?

Unlike Trump who has probably never had a good intention in his life unless it added to his bank balance.

Oh, I don't know. There are grains of truth in some of it - this, for example, I could go along with :

So would you deny that that there are thousands of young Muslim men across Europe who feel they have been denied the opportunities available to non- Muslims, that they feel disconnected? They may have no intentions of ever carrying out acts of terrorism but nevertheless that feeling of alienation exists. It could be a time bomb for the future.

There are plenty of people with better insight than I who believe the same thing.

Merkel may think she's doing humanity a favour by accepting legions of refugees into Germany and bullying other countries to do the same but if these people just end up living in the down at heels, poor neighborhoods of the large cities across the EU then I leave you to imagine the outcome.
