Default Farron & Homosexual Sin

Before anyone jumps on (or fails to jump off) the "Farron is dispicable" bandwagon, please read this:

An Open Letter On The Subject Of Tim Farron's 'Homophobia' | The Huffington Post

(I have no particular axe to grind, other than trashing those parts of the media which continue to spout fake news at every opportunity.)

Fair enough.

I have doubts about the reasoning abilities and motivations of anyone with strong religious beliefs (and his are stronger than most) but as they all seem to have them to some extent, I have to ignore it.

More-or-less my thoughts exactly. I have serious difficulty in taking anyone completely seriously if they are deeply religious (how can you be expected to use logic and reason in your work if a significant part of your life is dependent on the opposites?), but provided they don't let their religion intrude on their work, then fine. But I still harbour doubts.

I'm sorry but I can't take this stuff seriously. A quote from the Huffington Post article;

7. He has said to me personally that when poly marriage is made legal he wants to be the first on the invite list to our wedding.

So, I go to Google to try to find out wtf is "poly marriage?" I didn't get a definition of that term, but I assume this, from Urban Dictionary, is what she's on about;

Polyamory
The practice, state or ability of having more than
one sexual loving relationship at the same time, with the full
knowledge and consent of all partners involved.
This is the definition used by California polyamorist Morning Glory Zell, who coined the term in the early 1980's.

Oh I see then.

Actually that's a quote from the letter -- unless you doubt the veracity of the entire premise of the article. I agree that the term's woolly at best, but if the credentials of the letter's author stack up, then focussing on one word in it does little to detract from what she's stating.

My aim's at the real dishonest media, and -- as with another current thread -- how they can disturb (nor merely distort the perception of) actual events.

Yes, I realise all that. I know it's a quote from the letter. I was intimating that uncritically accepting every new demand for minority rights (poly marriage in this case) is not necessarily wise.

How about May saying at Easter that Jesus (or God, can't remember) would have voted for Brexit ,,,

An utter embarrassment to reason. And what if you're an atheist. Blind belief causes a lot of trouble in the world. 🤦‍♂️🙄

He's clearly unwilling to make his position or his stance absolutely clear.

Personally I don't care a toss, but how it will go down with the Libturds come election time is another matter entirely.

"Libturds", your language is delightful.

As an unpaid-up Liberal Democrat, I would say, the problem with Tim Farron is that he is not particularly competent, unlike Norman Lamb --who should have been voted leader.
