Default Control of Mosques

This is an interesting article, aligned with what a Moroccan friend has told me: Morocco has a relatively-open door policy to Syrian refugees, but on one condition: Don't touch our mosques (meaning don't interfere with the messages they spread). I hadn't realised how tightly the government controls imams. Certainly seems like a good idea.

It has always surprised me that that hadn't happened in the UK and in the Netherlands when we lived there. The Eindhoven Mosque turned out to be control central for many of the men involved in 9/11...

Good article-
-However in the UK it is the minority ultra religious Muslims who separate themselves with separate schools etc.
It is not possible to ban religious schools (similar problems for pupils in Ultra orthodox Jewish and Catholic schools).
Stricter inspection of schools is necessary as well as control of Mosques.

It is, and it should be done.

I'm sure Saudi tightly controls their mosques too, but I don't think that's a good idea for them.

That's always the problem with controlling - who is doing the controlling and to what end?

Very much so. Knowledge is the first requirement.

Plenty, you twat. The Moroccan govt has just dedicated 25 million Dirhams to the renovation of the Sacré-Cœur Cathedral in Casablanca. There are synagogues too.

Also, did you see this in the news...renamed to 'Mariam Umm Eisa' mosque, which translates from Arabic as 'Mary Mother of Jesus'

Quote:
The Mohammed bin Zayed Mosque is a stunningly beautiful place of worship. The four minarets signal its royal benefactor – only the ruling family can build mosques with more than two minarets; it is also a place where muezzins are trained. It is a place of gathering in Abu Dhabi for the religious leaders.

What sets this mosque apart, however, is the neighbourhood. The Anglican church of St Andrew’s, the Roman Catholic Church of St Joseph and the Egyptian Coptic Church of St Antonio’s, all share the same car park. It is in this context that the renaming of the mosque to that of Mary, Mother of Jesus is especially poignant. As one wit recently commented: "St Mary’s is now the new centre of worship on the block’’.
