Default window blind housing

In our house these are all on the inside. How on earth do I fit curtain poles when they stick out about 4 inches from the wall?? Is there a trick to this?

Doesn't that depend on what kind of blind; anyway the more layers of insulation the less you (a) spend on heating (b) gain in unwanted indoor heat in the summer........if I could remember what that'll feel like !
