Default USC interested in emigrating to spain... someday

Hi. I think that someday I might like to move to Spain... but I have no idea how I would go about doing so. Within a year I hope to have my PhD (and hope to become a professor), I am fluent in Spanish (and so is my husband), etc. etc. etc. and, well, I have always liked Spain.

Is my only chance for immigration via a work permit? Or does Spain offer some type of point system (similar to that which is in place in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand)?

If the only possibility is via a work permit, does any one know if they have certain categories from which it is easier to obtain permanent residency?

Or does anyone know a website where I could go for this information? Your assistance would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

You could also try the Spanish Embassy in Washington. They have a list and descriptions of the different visa's etc at: http://www.spainemb.org/ingles/indexing.htm
