Spanish citizenship and Birth Certificate
Hello,
I hope you are all doing fine and Im thanking your help in advance.
Im a British Citizen born abroad (Jordan) but I have spent my whole life living in Spain. As a member of EU (UK) never bothered to get my Spanish citizenship but now with Brexit all haschanged.
Im trying to get my Spanish Citizenship but to do so I need my birth certificate. As I havent born in UK Im not entitled to get a British one. As I dont live in Jordan I cannot get one neither as I dont have a resideny there.
I contacted today the British Consulate in Madrid and they said they cannot do anything. The Spanish Ministry of Justice said that I need to submit the birth certificate of the country mentioned in my ID (NIE,which is the UK one). The Civil Register (Registro Civil) and solicitor that I have to submit my Jordanian one.
Either one,I dont have any.
Has anybody faced a similar situation?I would appreciate a piece of advice here.
Thanks and regards,
J.A.

Once you got your birth certificate from Jordan, you should consider registering your own birth with the UK's Foreign and Commonwealth Office. This will give you a British style birth certificate and you can order copies from the General Register Office.

Have you check the General Register Office to see whether your parents registered your birth at the local British consulate?
