I would love to move to Spain but as a single person I am a bit nervous. Are there any good sites or meeting places for single people?

Huh? Single people exist all over the world, why would you think you would need to move to a special area?

I arrived in Spain as a single and joined various mixed groups and have made many friends over the years. Typically here people have more time and want to socialise and of course the weather and Spanish culture helps in this respect.

If you are specifically looking for a partner then the usual sites exist here like meetic/match.com etc

Thank you for the welcome! And all the helpful replies. I checked out meetic and match but most were spainish speaking and I am not good enough with that yet. Also I would miss not having a laugh in English. I found expat dating Spain which is new with a good offer going, plus Costa dating. I will be near Barcelona so think expat dating Spain will be more use. Are there any other sites around?

The expat community in Barcelona actually isnt very big

British people there tend to speak Spanish/Catalan and integrate to a varying degree

Most Spanish people under 40 speak basic/good English, so as long as you speak basic Spanish, you would be fine

If you are over 40 then yes it would be more difficult

Yes the average age of expats is much higher on the Costa Blanca and Costa del sol. Much bigger English speaking communities as well

I think if I signed up to an online site it would be better then, like expat dating Spain. Any others that anyone would recommend?

I've also heard of this app called Tinder, which seems to work well (my friends say).

If you are looking for "that one special person" then the UK has far more people on dating sites. However if you just want to have friends everywhere for everything then there are clubs etc. you can join that will be glad of an extra member - you just need to pick an area with more ex-pats.

I understand, I think you might be right and it might be on the 'too fast' side! I am really sorry, Karen.

Another idea, if you use Facebook - there are groups for singles of an area to just chat and do leisure activities together. I have found one in the Alicante area called 'Solteros y Solteras de Alicante' with almost 3000 members, although again it is probably going to be all in Spanish.

I think Dave is right - trying to join a club in an expat area could be a way to meet nice people.

In most parts of the Costa Blanca there are ex-pats groups that meet weekly or more often, they often also organise trips out. There is one in the Punta Prima/Playa Flamenca area, and also in Albir to my knowledge as have been to both. I suspect most areas along the Costa Blanca will have local meet ups.
