Setting up event photography business

Hi all

My husband and I are looong to relocate to Spain or Portugal with our 14 month old daughter in the next few years. I have a strong Art based background and I'm currently in the process of setting up an event photography business plus photo booth hire as an addition.

This will be a business we are hoping to take with us once successful.

Are there any particular areas people would recommend we look to relocate based on what we would like? Almeria is our preferred location but we recognise it is a very barren area

Many thanks in advance

Amy

I see that you have already had a rethink on the type of work that you wish to do. Is that due to research that you have done?

Yes Rosemary. It makes sense to do something I have an active interest in and have the skills I can pursue further. In terms of covering events for photographic purposes I wouldn't know where to base ourselves. Obviously we will need to be somewhere where there is a market, however, we don't to be surrounded by so much I competition that we will drown xx

Do you speak Spanish or would you be looking for an area with a high proportion of English speakers? Some areas also have a lot of Germans and Dutch who speak good English which might help you for a customer base.

A high proportion of English speakers would be ideal however we don't want to be surrounded by Brits if that makes sense? An area with quite a few surrounding areas so we aren't isolated from other regions would be good, tourists/expats/locals all not too far would be ideal. I'm currently learning Spanish so hoping to be competent at least when we do make the move. Conversational Spanish is where I think I'd struggle a little haha xx
