Moving the bank’s domicile not only guarantees the deposits of its clients, it also means that the bank will pay its its taxes in Spain. Withdrawing deposits and obliging a bank to change its domicile is a very effective way of people voting. It deprives Catalonia of its tax base, so financial independence becomes impossible and without the need to put police on the streets. I wonder how many who voted for independence have also withdrawn their deposits?
