Default Running costs

Hi can anyone give me ballpark figures for running a property in Spain. We are looking at buying a 2 bed , lock and leave type place (doing a 3 month trip out in 2017 to view areas). We are selling a villa type place in Florida which has running costs such as property tax, community fees, home ins, electric, water/ sewage and Homewatch. Theses amount to circa £8k per annum, and we are hoping to reduce our outlay moving forward . Any advice would be much appreciated. We are looking at around £120k to buy

May make some savings but big variable is community fees. Annual taxes vary Euro 600,- / Euro 1.000,- including rubbish collection. Community fees great unknown, seen anything from Euro 20,- a month to over Euro 200,- ( more in some places ) depends on community size and services - garden, pool, lifts etc etc. Utilities about Euro 100,- a month, add in Euro 50,- a month for Internet and mobile phone. Annual house insurance about Euro 200,- . Typical security system with internet monitoring about Euro 40,- a month.
Just general typical costs, will vary by area.

Unless you have neighbours hook into your power supply, or live in a huge mansion with 30 rooms including swimming pool that's heated 24/7 I don't think you have to worry. Of course it depends on the area and some people have to pay community fees but you'll save thousands.

Water - 40€ per month
Electric - 80€ per month
IBI - 300€ per year
Basura - 80€ per year
Insurance - 250€ per year

but they are so variable it's hard to put proper figures to these items.

That seems about right to me. There may be community fees on top. I pay 400 euros p.a. for a 2 bed flat with lift, visiting security but no pool.

Good numbers. My apartment in Frigiliana which was a big one bed was 275€ for IBI ( tax)
Basura was only 15€ both p.a.
Our Electric was less around 50€ pm
Insurance was only 120€
But the service charge, including water, was around 1000€ 2 pools and only 14 apartments in the complex.
So massive variations with location/facilities.

3 bed, 2 bath apartment (90M2). A/C, 8Mb internet, communal pool, garage parking: Alicante area, Owner non resident.

IBI = €165 year

Water & community fees (Pool + building insurance, no lift) = €640 year (Building is still on shared water....due to be changed soon)

Electric = Approx €60 per month when we're here and €30 per month when we're back in the UK

Banking = €96 per year!....non resident account with Sabadel

Internet = €24 month (you can arrange to turn off while you're away)

House insurance (contents&pipes) €220 per year

Non resident tax = €114

So, €2,243/year if we're here all the time and €1,595/year if we stay in the UK

One way flights from €34.......Why stay in the UK?

Our total running costs for a large 2 bed duplex in a community with pool in Frigiliana come out at 1200 euros all in per annum, we're there approximately 12 weeks of the year.
