Residency/tax etc
Hi guys, I am new to this site and probably the information I am going to ask has probably been asked a thousand times, I am looking to relocate to Spain with my wife and daughter and I'm After some advice on how I would stand with residency, tax etc, I work offshore on an oil rig in the U.K. And work a rotation of 3wks on 3wks off, so I would only be in the uk an average of around 176 days a year and the rest would be spent in Spain an average of around 189 days.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

The golden rule is wherever you spend more than 183 days a year you become tax resident - looks like you can choose where is best for you. Probably worth a look here for tax and lots of other useful stuff

Why don't you use the search facility on the forum? Yes, it has been asked quite a lot to say the least so if you dig about you may save yourself a wait as until anything changes after Brexit, you will get roughly the same answers but with no delays!

Simply put, do not stay more than 183 days in Spain therefore you remain under UK tax which is lower.

If his family live in Spain then their 'centre of vital (economic) interest may be in Spain'. This would then overrule the 183 days meaning he's tax resident any way!
