Proof of income for residency

Re: Proof of income for residency
SS payments in Spain are NOT based on earnings - they are a fixed figure based on your age, the job you're doing and maybe other factors.
Anyway, it's about 260€ per month - even if you earn nothing.
At the moment there is a scheme to pay less as a new self-employed person - google it to find details or do a search on this forum.

as long as you have either not been employed, or have not been registered as autónomo in the last 5 years you qualify, iirc

That sounds good - at least they are trying to do something about the situation.
Expecting the full contribution from day one is hardly going to encourage anyone to be self employed!

Just remember you won't get nursing care apart from treatments and medication, or aftercare. Your family will be expected to do this, or you have to pay someone
You may not get the physiotherapy you would normally expect after certain operations.you will pay for any equipment eg crutches, yourself
You will pay a proportion of the cost towards prescriptions
