Podiatry/Chiropody in Majorca/Mallorca, Spain
Hi
Can anyone tell me where I can find a Podiatrist/Chiropodist in Majorca/Mallorca? Where do you go if you have corns or callus or ingrowing toe nails?
Many thanks.

I am researching the service from a suppliers point of view. Just wondered what the opportunities are there for a fully qualified Podiatrist.

Be interesting to see the replies. My wife, a full state registered nurse in the UK is considering taking a podiatry course at our uni, the intention is to offer the service to expats in the alicante area once we retire for good.
Here was me thinking retirement was for rest and enjoyment of life, not further work

There appears to be only one listing in the "paginasamarillas" under "cirugia podologica pie quiropodia illes baleares".
If I had callus, I'd go to a pedicurist initially (& ask for further advice). Following that, I'd ask for advice from pharmacies/chemists for a hospital based clinic.
If I had diabetes, no messing about, I'd go to a doctor recommended clinic.
Did you mean "toe"?
Depends if you can reach your toes...
Best wishes to all concerned

Hi
I've been assured that the BSc (Hons) Podiatry is a recognised qualification and fully compatible for EU standards.
Still it is really interesting to know that everyone on the island has beautiful feet and do not need any assistance as there doesn't seem to be much information about this.
Considering that the UK is performing 10,000 nail surgerys each year. The waiting list to get onto the NHS system for podiatry is around 10 months, I'm so surprised to find little information for any of this in Spain.
I hope some-one in a clinic or with Podiatry experience will let me know the actual score or at least how it works on the island.
Thanks. Poddie

Hi Carol
Many thanks. Yes I know about the website and posted a question on there (no replies yet). I guess I specifically wanted to know about opportunities in Majorca/Mallorca and the information on Pod Arena is about a year old.
But I do appreciate the link. Many thanks.

You're welcome .
I did notice the above link was a bit outdated, but it does contain some useful links in spanish.
It's good that health related degree courses are recognised throughout the EU; however, I still suspect Spain (mainland or islands) would require further evidence ("oposiciones") of competence in order to practice legally (public or private health sector) within it's borders.
Would your spanish language skills be up to sitting an exam after, say, 6 months of shadowing a colleague in Mallorca? It can be done with some effort.
This really is "a need to know" answer. Does anyone on the forum know?
I hope you find your answer (in the sun.)
