We had a less than happy experience with them when buying our house, since then we have heard from so many people who had a similar one to ours.

Thank you for your reply. I thought finding a property was going to be the hard part. Have you used anyone else that you would recommend?

Whilst it is rare for a Spaniard to employ a solicitor/abogado to act when purchasing a property I think it would be extremely foolish for a foreigner not to do so, even if they have a grasp of the language.
Some think the notary will totally protect their interests but this is not the case, I know people who walked out of the notary and received letters years later telling them they owed a mortgage on the property (when they had paid cash for it) long story............
