Movistar
Hi we have just arrived and contracted with the above for both mobile and fixed line plus ADSL. Problem where we live there is no mobile signal. So we are faced with daily contact from the engineer but then we have to travel into Town to obtain coverage. Leave messages then he responds but of course then back home and no mobile coverage.
When we do get through there are recorded announcements in Spanish which we do not understand. Again back to the Movistar office they leave a message for the technician and the wheel is reinvented.
Is there please an English speaking help line. Yes we know should try to speak Spanish. So my response is of course will try. If in French fine but of course we now live in Spain.
Of course it poses a question as to why we have been given a movil contract when then is no coverage for some km.

I have no idea if it will help or not but some ago I posted on here about contacting Movistar through Face Book. If you were able to do that somewhere and check for replies. They were fantastic is sorting out my problems twice and would not hesitate to do it again if I had a problem.

Ring 1004 and say English and you will be routed through an English speaker.

Porth - IIRC you are in Mallorca? If so, why on earth would you contract with Movistar? They have horrible service here.

Re: Movistar
No sorry mainland between Alicante and Denia. They have terrible service here as well.
I keep on relating to France in that is the result of my experience for let us say some years. France if nothing else realises that communication the net and related matters are an imperative for the future.
We lived in a petite cite de character and we had fibre outside our maison de maitre in the main street and just hundred yards away from 14th century Church and which was listed.
We had over 60mbt of bandwidth. In cities much more but even in the countryside Orange really did have a go.

Re: Movistar
I note the comments re. Movistar. I will shortly be looking for a mobile phone supplier that covers Alicante up to Benidorm. Also broadband.
Any suggestions ?
Thanks

Re: Movistar
however there other reasons I suppose for living in Spain. We have jumped from France to Spain have residencia and now SIP cards next week. So give it a go and work hard on getting our heads around that this is not France and Spain does it its own way.
However have bolt hole in France and a small semi in Wales so can jump ship again I suppose but with advancing age we must really stop behaving like travelling folk.

A friend in the uk uses this...
Does Vodafone Sure Signal Really Work? | Lifehacker UK
Not sure if something similar is available for Movistar but maybe you could ask. It acts as a mast for mobiles in his home because he's in a black spot where there is no signal at all.

Porth,
I'm in Javea and the ADSL service I get from Movistar is excellent. I use Orange mobile, which I also find to be very good.

Re: Movistar
Hi and thanks. We signed up two weeks ago and the engineer keeps on ringing our mobile from them and there is no service. So we give them an alternative number to ring then our email address the technician still keeps on ringing the mobile.
We too are in Javea and I now need a bed outside their office in the Old Town having been there so often. Will give it another go and then cancel.
thanks once more.
