Re: left hand drive car
Hi Snikpoh thanks once more. The supplier of the lights is also now going to fit them and align them and then install the original fitting for the rear lighting left hand drive in France and rewire correctly. My brother in law lives in Calpe and apparently knows them.
I am having it serviced in the UK next Friday so fingers crossed.
Then it should go through the Ondarra test then Liberte Seguros comes into play and then all that is needed is getting it into the Spanish system. Will keep this time all of the fitments and headlights for when we return to the UK in a couple of years time.
thanks to everyone

Porth - hoping you see this message!
We are in the process of relocating from Spain to the UK and are hoping to take our 5yr old honda civic with us. How much did the conversion to UK specs cost you? Did you have a digital speedometer? How did you go about getting it changed to MPH and how much did it cost - we are struggling to find anybody who has done this or a garage that knows what to do!
Thanks

Re: left hand drive car
Hi did exactly that in 2013 when we moved back. Now back in Spain and the reverse has to happen.
We have a Honda CRV purchased in France so when we moved back everything changed. Some Honda's have a button that you can push back to mph?
If not you have to have the clock changed (and not the outer glass) and the dash is taken off and our guys superimposed a mph and which sets on top of kph and thus you have both if you drive on the continent.
Then your lights have to be changed as well as rear lights and fog lights.
Whenever you have the work done then the company has to supply a certificate to the DVLA confirming that they comply with the UK systems.
It is no good having the work done without this certificate. Then you need a MOT but only after the work has been done.
The headlights were purchased from ebay and I think from memory the whole cost was nearer £500. Keep the discarded kit you might be able to sell it on ebay?
We had our work done near Weston Super Mare but these guys to lots of ports in the UK for they change kit for importers so you might be lucky
best wishes

Thanks Porth
I think where we are falling down is that the speedo display is digital (just a number) and the LHD civics don't have a way to change it from kph to mph but the RHD does. Nobody seems to know if we can have a mph version put in or not. There isn't an easy fix of a dial overlay or new fascia or similar. Thinking it's going to have to be flogged here!
