I didn't say it was "funny", I said it must be nice to have a months holiday.
Many (if not most?) Spanish manufacturer's no longer close for a month.

In the South not so much because they servicing the tourist industry
By the way, the same thing happens in France, Italy, Greece and even Finland
The UK is the odd one out in many ways

I was just making a light hearted comment and didn't really intend to start a debate.
Whilst this used to be the norm, I think you will find it is now the exception to the rule. I have lived and worked in several EU countries and very few manufacturing companies I deal with now close for 1 month.
