We're used to Easy Jet here from Bilbao; normally, a hand luggage suitcase will include a ladies handbag; ie you need to leave room in your hand luggage case to put the handbag in, if asked to do so at the gate, which sometimes depends on how strict they are.
My ex-girlfriend always got around having to put her [large!] handbag in her [over packed!] hand luggage by putting her coat on over her handbag just before we got to the gate.

Thanks one and all for your help. I am pleased to say you can all sleep soundly tonight as have at last found a shop who sells them!!

... & me. I've come to the conclusion it depends what sort of 'Moody' they're in. I've watched families being told to split everything into bags for each member - whilst next moment waving someone through with stuff in an opaque bag....
