They do not need to actually commit the crimes you stated to have their life ruined, just accused....

We live in a innocent until proven guilty by a court of law society but accusations in this sense are the totally opposite - guilty until proven innocent and then the accused still has their life ruined...

There is a big difference between an accusation and how social media can manipulate that into something damning and what happened to Rubiales. Rubiales's actions were public and uncontested. He didn't deny them. But again his response indicated his mindset. He seemed to think that it was he who was the victim. He still does when he claims that he will seek legal action to clear his name. He aligns himself with persons like Woody Allen for instance without seeing the difference. Allen had accusationsade against him. But firstly they were impossible to verify as the accusant was a 7 year old girl who could not in any way be considered competent enough to respond to the questions. The accusations had two investigations both fully dismissing the possibility of any charges being brought. So Allen is innocent but his career has suffered as a result. But this has got no parallels with Rubiales as in turn the idea that Rubiales is being destroyed by public opinion and not by a court. Rubiales can obviously take court action but it is literally impossible for him to be found not guilty of lewd conduct or of kissing Hermoso.

I know I am digressing but if anyone is interested in the Woody Allen case one extraordinary story that will make your jaw drop is this:
After Mia Farrow left Frank Sinatra she moved in with her close friends The Previns. Andre Previn was the famous conductor and Dory Previn a songwriter. Farrow then began an affair with Andre Previn which affected Dory Previn so intensely she was hospitalised. After she recovered she released an album with a song called Beware of Young Girls. This clearly was about Mia Farrow and Andre Previn. So it is not unreasonable that Farrow heard the song and the album. Now what is extraordinary is the 7th track In The Attic With Daddy!!!. Everyone knows that the Woody Allen accusation involves his daughter Dylan aged 7 and the alleged incident occurred in the .....attic. So is a song about a daughter in an attic with her Daddy and her " dark secret" written in 1970 ( 20 years before the Allen incident) > by the woman who lost her husband to Mia Farrow just coincidence. Listen to the song.

Back on track.......even in announcing his resignation Rubiales shows little humility and clearly feels a poor victim. Why?. Because he announces it with an interview with...Piers Morgan ( Carlson Tucker of UK media). And he does it in English which he doesn't have a great command of it. He obviously feels Morgan and his audience are more sympathetic toward him than he might have got in spain and no doubt thinks the UK supports him. What a foolish man he has proved to be.

Aside of Rubiales whose actions are there for the world to see. The behaviour of rich young footballers and others with a similar mindset are not always simply judged by guilty or not guilty verdicts in court, it’s not always simply a criminal matter it’s about what is right and wrong in life. Using Greenwood as an example, as has been mentioned the CPS dropped the case for a variety of reasons. What is not in doubt is that Greenwood’s attitude and behaviour was appalling and that’s putting it politely, Greenwood has even admitted that himself. Would you have been happy if it was your daughter involved ? What added to the situation was the way the club dealt with the aftermath. These players lap it up when they are in the public eye and have to take the rough with the smooth when they transgress and behave badly whatever that may be.

Perhaps answering UKMS's questions will help you to think more deeply about this issue. I'm sure there are women and girls in your life who you love, would you want them to speak up if they've been sexually or physically abused, or would you want them to remain silent because they're probably just making it up/looking for money?

An interesting question- the answer of which should be that it should be treated equally. Now it is not hypothetical. Look at this story today in the Spanish newspapers. A police officer has made a denuncia against a woman who kissed him during the disturbances of the Catalonia referendum a few years ago. He is able to do this because he identifies himself in a video that was on YouTube. Similar to Rubiales is that the act occurs and appears spontaneous with no apparent dialogue taking place. Interesting to see what happens- although certain aspects of the law are required ( in this case the denuncia is recent and not at the time).

I've got an easy solution. Don't kiss women on the mouth uninvited.

Don't make lewd remarks.

Don't grab them in intimate places.

Don't have or attempt to have sex with them unless they are a) conscious and capable b) have said "yes".

Most men actually find this quite easy.

It was reduced by one year and the offender is disappointed and it looks like he will appeal against that decision . i.e. he wants a greater reduction.

Well it's never happened to me on air, not being a reporter, but it has happened to me multiple times, first time when I was 15. Add these instances to breast grabbing and men exposing their penises to me in public places, and of course endless "remarks". I would be amazed if there is a woman here on BE who has not experienced this stuff. Amazingly, it is only relatively recently that this is presented as shocking, or as a news item, let alone as something prosecutable or over which the man would lose his job.
