Default Family of 4 Plan To Move This Year - What To Do

Hi All

I am married with a little boy and girl aged 5 and 9. The plan is for all of us to move to Spain this year. We would rent our house out in the UK firstly and rent a house in Spain. The idea would be to give it our best for 2 years and if things work out we will stay and buy a property or if not then I guess its plan B and the kids will be able to speak Spanish.

So I am trying to understand what I have to do to make this happen. All suggestions will be much appreciated in particular any help concerning
1. Education, I am thinking Spanish school. Whats the application process and any thoughts on good schools
2. Income, I have a ltd company in the UK that pays me and my wife. We would also have rental income. Tax implications running a UK company etc
3. Legalities with regards to citizenship etc
4. Where to live, we are thinking within an hour of a well connected airport ( I would most likely have to fly to work projects in Europe) Alicante, Malaga etc
5. Language, none of us speak Spanish so the kids will have a job to catch up with the language and I understand some schools teach in the local dialect

I will do lots of reading of existing posts as i expect lots of these questions have been asked before but any pointers would be great

Many thanks
Steve

Good luck and I am sure it will work out well and if not you can look back and say "better to have tried and failed ..."
My comments would be:
1. It is a bad time for a 9 year old. His education will suffer and will find it difficult if you decide to return to UK in 2 years time.
2. After you become resident, you ought to declare your income and be subject to Spanish tax and will need private health care. This will be expensive for you.
3. Discussed in many other threads.
4. Near Alicante, Malaga and Madrid would be the most obvious locations.
5. State schools near Alicante, Malaga and Madrid will all teach in Spanish or you could choose an international school teaching in English.

Don't confuse citizenship with residencia, I suspect you mean the latter.

Yes Pwwm you are correct I meant residencia. I have been ill with Flu the last week, so have just got round now to looking into the requirements and costs of residencia and then it will be the tax implications...not looking forward to that!
