Exclamation Re: Does anybody has an answer to the EHIC cards.

Remember, if you are registered on the Spanish system by your S1 form and you are visiting the UK, you must use the EHIC if you need any medical treatment. Using your NI number will automatically withdraw you from the Spanish System and you will have to re apply. At least that is what they told me when I last updated my EHIC ( overseas) card, which is different to an EHIC ( domestic).

I think you will find that the rules changed recently. S1 pensioners are now entitled to full NHS treatment in the UK as if they were ordinarily resident in the UK without it affecting their Spanish healthcare. Previously, if you took NHS treatment the assumption was that you had returned to the UK permanently.

Thanks Fred. My info is about 12 months old, when we renewed our ehic cards last year.
