DIY stores

With the increase of stores like Ikea spouting up in Spain, are there any DIY stores yet on a larger scale like B&Q where you can purchase most things under one roof.

much as i absolutly HATE to say it - la cañada has a good diy store, where you can buy everything.. but the prices are over inflated for the marbella crowd.

i much prefer AKI which can be found in fuengerola (by dunns mijas costa), in malaga (near carrefour maine n340 into malaga town), and i am sure some others, its a big store...HUGE some great discounted stuff in there, its much like mfi in the uk :) .

I bought a circular saw in there a couple of weeks ago :D :D 9€ and it works nearly as good as my old wolf make one.

9€ !!! i KNOW i´d seen them in there that cheap but by the time i went back and decided to buy one they had sold out.. dammit! cheapest one was 29€ when i went :)

the good stuff seems to sell out fast - i wanted one of their computer desks, went back after i got paid and they had all gone - yet when i saw them they had a stack of 40 or so and it was only a week later !

things like brackets an that are very cheap in there, laminate flooring at 6e a metre etc etc.. very good prices.

Hi
Leroy Merlin seems to be a reasonable B+Q equivalent - have a decent website too www.leroymerlin.es you can see if there is one near to you.

There seem to be loads of huge DIY stores on the Costa Blanca, possibly reflecting the crazy N.European influx and their desire to put up dodgy shelving and ill-positioned tiles!

In Malaga there is also a very large Bauhaus. Take the road to the airport from the motorway and it's on a huge estate on the right behind the car dealers.

Incidentally Leroy Merlin own AKI.

Big AKI in the Habaneras shopping centre in Torrevieja, and there is also a Hardy not far away, both very similar to B&Q, and you can get wood cut to size there. We use both on a quite regular basis.

Both excellent shops, by the way it is ARDY not Hardy.
