'Cottage Industry', Worldwide postage from Galicia?
Hello folks, after a few months on the road we have settled in Galicia. I have a print business which I'm aiming to emigrate with!
Anyway- we are now settling in and trying to get back to work. I post the majority of my work (mainly fine art posters) to the USA. I have spent the last few days investigating various shipping methods and writing to couriers; DHL, TNT, UPS to enquire about a small business account. My Spanish is very poor, but Google Translate does the trick at this early stage, neither company is incredibly helpful.
I wonder if anyone in the forums has experience of international postage for small businesses? My post items are tubes, 65x8cm (diameter), weight no more than 450g.
Cost for a basic, non-urgent delivery via high street 'Correios' according to their website would be aprox €30 (shockingly expensive compared to UK, Netherlands, Belgium and Portugal where I've previously posted from).
Any thoughts would be most welcome, thank you.

Sorry- didn't make that very clear, the offensive €30 charge from the Spanish Post Office is for a small parcel to the USA. That's the basic charge from the high street.

Seems about right. A 500gm package from here to UK costs $49 via DHL etc. About $15 via regular mail but may never get there!

I often post 100cm x 8cm tubes to the USA from Spain and Portugal. Portugal PO charges are slightly more than in Spain (Spain just under €30, Portugal just over). A few years ago pricing changed from weight only to dimensions and rocketed. However, things used to go missing frequently. I have not had a problem with Spanish, or Portuguese postal services since the price hike. All customers are happy to pay the €30, so I am happy to use the PO/Correos.
Last time I spoke to DHL, it was more expensive, so no point in changing.
I probably post no more than 20 tubes a year mind, so bulk service discounts wouldn't apply.
