Default Bars and Restaurants Mijas Pueblo

Hi all
I am taking a first time holiday in Mijas Pueblo from Sept 19th till Oct 7th and would be pleased to know of any recommended bars and restaurants in Mijas Pueblo and Fuengirola.
Also are there any sea trips out of Fuengirola?
Phil

Can highly recommend Daltons Cloud Nine in Los boliches, it is down by the river bed not far from the feria ground. They are a live music venue and well worth a visit, Dalton himself specialises in 50's/60's but the second act is always something different.

The best thing to do is just take a wander and stop off in the little back allies if you want a little bit of Spanishness, try the tapas and enjoy your stay.

If you go down to the harbour in Benalmadena there is a host of different types of boats going out on sea trips, depending on how long your likely to be out they can be around 15 - 30e.

If you get the chance get yourself on some of the trips in land to the likes of Ronda, Granada etc. Enjoy your stay what ever you do.

I second the suggestion of visiting places like Ronda and Granada, but instead of going on a group excursion my preference would be to use the excellent public transport system which we have in Spain and go independently. There are regular bus services to Ronda from Malaga, a lot of which pass through the coastal resorts like Fuengirola, and also regular buses from Malaga to Granada. We once travelled from Nerja to Granada by bus, stayed overnight in a hotel in Granada (not booked in advance, just saw one we liked the look of and walked in), took the early morning train next day from Granada to Ronda, spent the day there and caught an evening bus back to Nerja via Malaga. The whole thing cost little more than an organised trip to Granada for 2 people.

It works out much, much cheaper than going on an organised trip and you can set the itinerary yourself (no visiting the local ceramics factory or wherever they take you to try to part you from more money and earn their commission) and you can do your sightseeing at your own pace and choose where you want to eat according to your own tastes.

There is so much information available online now such as maps, walking directions to famous landmarks, bus timetables and fares, etc. that it's incredibly easy to plan your own trips.

Thanks to Jay and Lynn for the suggestions. I said I stay the first time in Mijas as this is true, but I only visited it twice last year whilst staying in Torrequebrada, once with bus from Benalmadena and the next time from Fuengirola. Liked it so much so decided to stay here this time, as it is set between both places and I prefer to be inland. I am renting a large apartment(really for 4 persons), but the friend who was joining me to share the cost cannot come now, so I must pay the lot. This will restrict me staying overnight in other places.
Got to know Benalmadena quite well, visited Malaga once (open top bus tour) and Fuengirola many times, twice to the market and the Biopark. I used the bus all the time and just twice on the train, public transport is excellent.
I did take several of the sea trips out of Benalmadena and will do so again, excellent value as is the return sea trip from Benalmadena to Fuengirola.
I plan to visit Coin and Marbella this time. I will check Ronda out.

Hi,
I do recommend the Schnitzel House, front-line harbour in Fuengirola. Ther are also boat trips available from the harbour.

Hi There,
there are sooo many reccomendations, Moo Moos is just around the corner from Daltons (mentioned earlier). Estilo de Campo on Fish Alley is a lovely steak house , Casa de salamanca just off Fish alley is great. The main Bar st in los boliches Calle Francisco Cano has Emerald Isle, Bar one etc.

One of my fave tapas is Tomaquet at the back of the main PO in Fuengirola 9just off Church Sq (one at Miramar end too)

Hope this elps
