Anyone got broadband in Costa del Sol (Cadiz and Malaga)?
Hi all,
I'm going to be in Gibraltar and surrounding areas of Spain in about four weeks time, so would be interested to get in touch with anyone with broadband (either ADSL or ONO cable) as I want to trial a phone service that works over your broadband internet connection, and gives you a UK number to receive calls on (initially 0870 national rate, but geographic numbers will be available shortly) When you phone the UK it shows up on Caller ID or Call Return (1471) as a UK number. You can access UK freephone numbers for free as well. (Calls between subscribers are free too.)
Yes, yes, I know about Telediscount, Call18866, etc, but they're no use to you outside the UK. This service will be, and is just as cheap. You can give the folks back home a UK number to call, which rings either on a phone plugged into an adapter and your modem (or into a softphone on your PC, if you're happy with that).
And yes, I know about Dial Abroad having a Spanish 902 number too, but if you've already got broadband, then put it to use as a UK phone line. It's also handy for phoning Sky, as you can plug it into your Sky box and take advantage of the same discount as if you were still in the UK. (It will be able to dial the UK 0800 number and display your number as a UK one.) If you try dialling 0044800 xxx xxxx from Spain you won't get through at all, and if you try and phone Sky, your Spanish number would show up as 04 xxx xxx xxx (compressed into UK format) or more likely as 'unavailable'.
Any feedback greatly appreciated!

If they like it, they can buy it, but if they don't, they don't have to. I've already got a few contacts in the area, but thought I'd try and make a few more. Thankfully the ones I've already got are more open-minded than you.
Your loss, hombre.

Hi I work in Marbella and would very much like to speak to you. I am open- minded with regard to all things Voice. Currently working on a very large VOIP project and sending UK traffic over UK PSTN local numbers to Spanish DDI delivery numbers. One concern what is the degregation on Voice calls over the Net and the limits on usage. Let me know
